About EV Owner Help — Who We Are & How We Work

Who We Are

We’re a team of EV owners, automotive engineers, and technical writers who believe electric vehicle ownership shouldn’t require a engineering degree to troubleshoot.

Our contributors have hands-on experience across dozens of EV models — from 2013 Nissan Leafs pushing 100,000 miles on original batteries, to brand-new Hyundai Ioniq 5s, to Tesla Model 3s with six-figure odometer readings. We don’t just research these cars. We drive them, charge them, maintain them, and occasionally swear at them when a software update goes sideways at 11 PM.

How We Research

Every article on this site follows a consistent methodology:

1. Primary sources first. We start with official manufacturer documentation — owner’s manuals, technical service bulletins (TSBs), warranty terms, and recall notices from NHTSA.

2. Owner community validation. Real-world experiences from owner forums (Tesla Motors Club, Mach-E Forum, Ioniq Forum, Reddit’s EV communities) provide ground truth that spec sheets can’t.

3. Hands-on verification. Whenever possible, our writers have personally performed the procedures they describe — from jump-starting a dead 12V battery to replacing cabin air filters.

4. Expert review. Articles covering high-voltage systems, battery chemistry, or safety-critical components are reviewed by contributors with automotive engineering or certified technician backgrounds.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

EV technology changes fast. We update our content when:

  • New model years introduce different procedures or specs
  • Manufacturer software updates change vehicle behavior
  • NHTSA issues new recalls or TSBs
  • Owner communities surface new common problems

Each article displays a last-updated date. If you spot something that’s wrong or outdated, contact us and we’ll fix it — usually within 48 hours.
