Editorial Policy — How We Research & Fact-Check

Our Standards

Every article published on EV Owner Help must meet three criteria:

1. Accurate: Information is verified against manufacturer documentation, technical service bulletins, or owner community consensus

2. Actionable: A reader should be able to take concrete steps after reading — diagnose a problem, complete a repair, or make an informed decision

3. Honest: We disclose limitations, model-year boundaries, and situations where professional help is the safer choice

Research Process

For Troubleshooting & Repair Articles

1. Start with official sources — owner’s manuals, factory service manuals, NHTSA TSBs and recall databases

2. Cross-reference owner communities — Tesla Motors Club, dedicated model forums, Reddit model-specific subreddits

3. Verify against real-world data — owner-reported failure patterns, independent testing (Consumer Reports, InsideEVs)

4. Document model-year boundaries — procedures that work on a 2022 Model 3 may not apply to a 2024

For Product Recommendations

1. Identify the problem first — what specific owner need does this product address?

2. Research available solutions — what products exist? What do owners actually use?

3. Evaluate value — is the premium option worth it? When does a budget alternative work fine?

4. Disclose relationships — all affiliate links are clearly disclosed per FTC guidelines

Corrections Policy

Found something wrong? We fix errors promptly:

  • Factual errors: Corrected within 48 hours of verification
  • Outdated information: Updated when new model years, software updates, or TSBs change the guidance
  • Clarity improvements: Ongoing — we welcome suggestions for clearer explanations

Each article shows its last-updated date. Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the article.

Independence

EV Owner Help is editorially independent:

  • We do not accept payment for coverage, reviews, or product placement
  • Affiliate commissions do not influence what products we recommend or how we describe them
  • Our writers and editors are not employed by any automaker, dealer network, or product manufacturer covered on this site
