Scope: every U.S.-market battery-electric model family in
EPA data with a tow-capable body class, model years 2020–2027
— 72 families
present in the U.S. market as of 2026-09-02 (51 with an official
rating) plus 7 families in EPA data but not on U.S. sale.
One row per family; every rating and every “not rated” statement
is quoted from and linked to its official U.S. manufacturer source. The
7 not-in-U.S.-market rows carry market-status evidence
(manufacturer announcement, regulatory record, or credible third-party
reporting — labeled on each row) instead of a rating. Official U.S.
publications only — EU and Canada figures are not used.
How ratings appear here. The figure is the highest
official U.S. rating the manufacturer publishes for the family. When that
maximum needs a specific trim, battery or package (e.g. extended-range
battery + Max Trailer Tow Package), the Condition column says so and lower
configurations tow less — no value on this page mixes trims or model years.
Ratings span 1,500 to 12,500 lb across the 51 rated
families.
“No official rating located” ≠
“not rated”. The status column is precise: only rows whose
official source explicitly says the vehicle is not rated/not for towing are
marked Not rated by manufacturer. Rows where official pages simply
contain no figure are marked No official rating located — an absence,
not a manufacturer statement. Third-party claims are never treated as
official. Definitions: methodology.
Rating ≠ advice. A tow rating is a manufacturer
maximum, not a license to tow: always verify payload, tongue weight, brakes
and equipment against the owner’s manual for your exact vehicle before
hooking up a trailer.
How to read this page
The table below lists all 79 model families
alphabetically. Each row: EPA model-year span, status (four precise
meanings), max official tow rating when published, the verbatim condition or
official statement, and the linked official source checked 2026-09-02. Plain
server-rendered HTML — no data depends on scripts; use your browser’s
Find (Ctrl+F / Cmd+F) to search a model name.

Data methodology, scope & changelog
What this is. A reference to U.S.-market electric-vehicle
towing capacity: for every battery-electric model family present in EPA data
(model years 2020–2027, EPA tow-capable body classes), the highest official
U.S. tow rating the manufacturer has published, quoted verbatim and linked to
its official source. It is a compilation, not an authority — the
authorities for towing ratings and “not rated” statements are the
manufacturers’ own U.S. pages and documents cited on each row. Rows for
families not on U.S. sale carry market-status evidence instead, labeled as
such (see below). This page mirrors official U.S. publications as of
2026-09-02; it does not restate EU/Canada/metric ratings, and
it makes no real-world claim.
Status semantics (read these precisely)
Data version & freshness
Field semantics
- Model family — EPA
make + baseModel; one row
per family, not per trim. EPA model-year span shown in the EPA MY
column (e.g. a family sold 2022–2025 shows 2022–25; a single-year family shows
one year). - Max official tow rating (lb) — the highest official U.S.
rating found for the family, quoted verbatim from its source. Where the
maximum requires an option package, a specific trim or battery
(e.g. extended-range battery + Max Trailer Tow Package; factory tow package),
the Condition column states it — the figure is that maximum configuration, not
a mix of trims, and lower configurations tow less. lb values are carried
verbatim from the official page (no kg conversion, no EU figures). - EPA MY — EPA’s model-year range for the family in
the 2020–2027 dataset; not the years any given rating applied. - Source (per row) — URL + title + kind. Kinds:
manufacturer specs, manufacturer towing specs,
owner’s manual, manufacturer release/support,
manufacturer media/release (all official U.S. manufacturer sources —
these carry the towing-rating and “not rated” evidence), and
market-status evidence (used only on not-in-U.S.-market rows, for the
market-status determination — a manufacturer announcement, a regulatory
record such as an SEC filing, or credible third-party reporting; never a
rating source). The “official manufacturer source” guarantee on
this page covers rating/status evidence; it does not extend to third-party
market-status sources, which are labeled as such. - SAE J2807: ratings published under J2807 are kept as published; this page
does not add the standard where the manufacturer does not state it.
Known limits
- Towing capacity is one number among several (GVWR, payload, tongue
weight, brake controller, driver licensing, trailer brakes…). This page
is a rating reference only — always confirm against the owner’s manual /
towing guide for your exact vehicle, trim, battery and equipment before
towing. No claim on this page is advice to tow. - Ratings change with model-year refreshes; values are as-of 2026-09-02 and
version-stamped. A later version may supersede. - Some manufacturer pages are robot-blocked; those rows were checked via
search-index text or reader proxies of the official page and the access path
is disclosed in the dataset notes (not repeated per row on this page). - Official U.S. sources only: EU-market ratings (kg) and Canadian-market
ratings are not U.S. ratings and are excluded even where the same vehicle
tows there. - Not-in-market families (7) are listed for completeness so
readers are not misled by EPA certification records; their rows carry no
rating and their sources are market-status evidence (manufacturer /
regulatory / credible third-party reporting, labeled per row), not rating
authorities.
Quality assurance
- Completeness: 79/79 EPA tow-capable BEV families covered, 0 dropped/0
duplicated (deterministic merge assertion); 51/51 rated rows carry a source
URL. - Correctness: independent second-source audit — 20% deterministic sample
(every 5th row) + targeted high-risk rows = 16 model families of 79
(20.3%) re-fetched from official sources by an independent process;
disagreements found were corrected with provenance (e.g. Nissan ARIYA
1,500 lb; F-150 Lightning 10,000 lb confirmed against a live ford.com page);
two model rows additionally resolved by user browser check of the official
pages (Tesla Model Y 3,500 lb; Hyundai Ioniq 5 2,700 lb — both rows’
Conditions quote the exact official wording). 0 residual unresolved
rows. - Source labeling: every row’s source kind says what the source is.
Rating and “not rated” evidence always comes from an official
U.S. manufacturer page/document, linked on the row. Market-status evidence
on not-in-U.S.-market rows is labeled market-status evidence and is
never presented as a manufacturer rating source. - Honesty guardrails: every value/quote on this page is a verbatim carry
from the dataset; the dataset itself was built by deterministic scripts from
fetched official pages (collection receipts + audit log kept in the project
state, quality gate record on file).
Changelog
Page carries no affiliate links; it is a pure reference.
Authorities: the manufacturers’ official U.S. pages cited per row for
towing ratings and “not rated” statements; not-in-U.S.-market rows
cite market-status evidence (manufacturer / regulatory / credible third-party
reporting), labeled per row. Universe source: EPA fueleconomy.gov.
